On Weaving
I am a self-taught tapestry artist. I work with natural fibres on a hand-made loom to create medium to large area rugs. All rugs are hemp, cotton, wool, or linen (or a mixture of these). Each rugs takes months to complete as every fibre is woven in by hand, a practice that is both tedious and meditative.
I came across weaving by accident, stumbled across a weaver’s account on Instagram and was enchanted by what I saw. Upon completely devouring the content of their page, I learned that they were working on a fairly simple handmade loom; I immediately wanted to give weaving a try. So, I build my own loom later that year and started my first project soon thereafter.
I love a space made cozy with rugs and tapestry art. I am drawn to the smell of the fibres, especially hemp, and the feel of a handwoven rug is just luxurious. I greatly look forward to completing many more weaving projects, and hope that some will find their way into your homes.
