Pick Me a Wild Berry

COMING SOON - Children's book about harvesting wild food in the James Bay region of northern Quebec.

August through October is a wonderful time in Wemindji. I have so enjoyed going out with my family and friends to harvest the bounty that the region provides during these autumnal months; I couldn't help but be inspired to write and illustrate a children's book about such fulfilling experiences.

The book will feature 10 wild foods - berries, mushrooms, leaves, and flowers - that I enjoy harvesting each year. It is not meant to be an exhaustive guide (for it will be neither exhaustive nor a guide), but a fun way to learn about the different foods available in the wild. Each food will be described whimsically and playfully, while providing some basic information about where it is found, and what it looks and tastes like.

I hope to release the book this fall, 2022.
